Hello, maybe there is a Wehrmacht specialist here who will explain all these shortcuts to me.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

I am not a specialist. The first photo has a description of Erkennungsmarke / Dog tag -7218-2 / Ld.Schutz.h.LK.8 (I'm not sure about this reading)

From the second photo you can read the affiliation to the unit > Landesschützen Battalion 552/3/ > military rank Schütze and annotation a) Gefreiter , literally translating the shooter and then the corporal. However, the steps in the Wehrmacht were not so explained, everything depended on the time of service and so Obergefreiter / fifth rank literally senior corporal / was a Polish senior private.

18.08.1942 a note about a stay in a military hospital with 13.06.1942 with rheumatic ailments (?) and return to the unit on the same day.
Notes from 05.09.1942 can't decode first
A little info about the unit>

Thank you for your help, it may be that in the first photo there is: 2 / Ld.Schutz.E.Btl 8? Because it would make sense because on Erkennungsmarke, from what I read today, the original unit was entered, and my chap was called in 1942 to Głubczyce -Leobschütz and there was Landesschützen-Ersatz-Batallion8. I still have to google it.

    Hello,

I think too, that it will be a spare unit. As it concerns the ancestor in a straight line, you can try to get a current copy of service, the one above looks for years 50. WASt was incorporated into the Bundesarchiv. New documents are found every now and then. I know from my own experience, that it pays to renew the application. 8 for years I was looking for any information about my grandmother's brother, knowing only the name and surname, parents' details and address as well, that he was missing / killed somewhere on the Eastern Front. On the second approach to WASt, I received info with my birthday data and nearly a year's course of service until the day of my disappearance. I was also recommended to contact the Arolsen Archives and Deutsches Rotes Kreuz in Munich because his further fate was unknown. Close 2 years I have received a reply. from DRC , that my grandmother's brother belongs to a group of people, whose fate still could not be explained and info , that shortly before my birth someone was already looking for him, plus the personal and address details of this person. I am providing a link to the current application

I received this document a week ago by e-mail without any other information, I sent my application to WASt in March 2020. In November, I received a confirmation.
I talked to a friend who says that it is not everything yet and that the rest of the documents will still come.

Hello. Recently, I received a reply from the Bundes Archiv, that my great-grandfather also served in the Landesschützen Ausbildungs Bataillon 8, except that in 1944 already belonged to Stamm Kompanie Landesschützen Ersatz Bataillon 8 (personnel company). On my own, I found photos of the training of this unit, held in Lienz, Austria in 1943 year. Do you have any more photos or documents about other members of the formation? I am happy to share my own information. Regards.
