The project SILESIA
Genealodzy, including members of our societies increasingly see opportunities, which gives them the genetic genealogy. it allows, in contrast to the traditional genealogy, to determine its origin in the times for which the registry books, and sources have not survived pozametrykalne. Thanks to DNA tests are able to confirm whether our genealogy based on written sources is correct and find relatives with whom we had no idea. More and more often manage to effectively determine the ethnic origin, as well as the use of DNA testing for health purposes.
The main objective of the project
The main objective of the project DNA Silesia (Silesia , Schlesien) is the discovery of a rich genetic heritage of the Silesian and their descendants. Silesia for the past thousand years it was the place where he lived and migrated different peoples, nations or ethnic groups. this resulted in, that at the beginning of the twentieth century, the region was quite different in terms of culture, religious or ethnic. The ancestors of today's Silesian can belong to multiple groups, including Poles, Czechs, Germans, Ashkenazi Jews, and even Italians, Flemish or Vlachs. However, going back even further in the past, our ancestors may be all kinds of peoples inhabiting Silesia over the centuries, It was dominated by Slavs. An example may be mentioned by Greek and Roman chroniclers tribes of Germanic origin or Celtic, and peoples, the existence of which we only know from archaeological excavations. We hope, that by collecting the results of DNA testing in the project Silesia DNA and examine them we will be able to answer a few questions though about the origin of the Silesian.
project members
Silesia DNA project is addressed to people of every child, which has ancestors in the male or female Silesia before a historical 1939 year, and just before the outbreak of World War II. The thirties of the twentieth century's last moments, when Silesia followed social changes in evolutionary. However, the war losses, mass destruction or displacement of population that took place in the years 1939-1950 radically changed the image of the genetic region. Today, many Silesians or their descendants inhabited other regions and other countries. For our project it is important to every person, which even has a little Silesian roots. Therefore we invite you to join our project, all descendants of the Silesian, regardless of where they currently live and what language they use.
The territorial scope of the project
The territorial scope of the project includes both historic Lower Silesia, ie the area of former principalities Brest, głogowski, Jawor, Legnica, Nysa, Olesno, Swidnica, Wroclaw, Wołowski, Ziębice, Żagań with free member state Milicz, sycowskim, żmigrodzkim, Bytom and Odra, and the area of the historical Upper Silesia, that is, the area of former principalities of Cieszyn, karniowskiego, Opava, Opole, raciborskiego, and free states and state Bytom Pless. In addition, due to the strong links with Silesia project also it includes the lands of the former county Kłodzki.
History of the project
The project was created in Silesia DNA 2016 in cooperation with Family Tree DNA samples collected and initially people, which performed the study in this laboratory. If anyone out there has done DNA testing is here It is a site where you can join in this project. however, 2017 we decided to expand the scope of our activities. Currently, we accept the results of research done in any laboratory. we created a page projektsilesia.pl where we will publish the results and analysis of all DNA samples coming from Silesia. We decided, except that samples of, which joined our project we take into account the results of research from the public genetic databases, that meet requirements specified above. It is very important, because the more results we can gather the more accurate we will be able to recreate genetic picture of Silesia.
We invite you to join!
If you have the DNA results that meet the criteria of our project, we invite you to join us and enrich the knowledge of the genetic history of Silesia. We also encourage you to share their discoveries and findings, including the drafting of sections devoted to each haplogrupom. The project is based on the voluntary work of its members, and we are open to any form of cooperation.
If you have not been doing a DNA test will be happy to answer you any question related to research. We are able to explain how the same study, what kind is best to choose a DNA test, which offers the best prices lab tests, and what information can be obtained from such studies. In these matters, or any other questions regarding the functioning of the project, you can write to the following address: siliusradicum@wp.pl
