W środowisku genealogów przyjęła się taka zasada, że posty które umieszczamy na forach genealogicznych powinno się podpisać chociażby imieniem, a najlepiej imieniem i nazwiskiem. Chyba, że nasz login już składa się z imienia i nazwiska. Znacznie łatwiej nawiązuje się kontakty i milej rozmawia się z osobą, do której możemy się zwrócić po imieniu.
