Czesc everybody,
maybe anyone can help. My grandfather Rufin Pordzik was born in Chorzów on 28. Nov. 1920, served in the Polish army in September 1939 and was a prisoner of war and later a forced labourer in Stargard 1939-1944. In June 1944 he was forced to sign up for the Volksliste in Chorzów and made to join the Wehrmacht, from where he deserted to become a spawacz autogeniczny in the 20 Pulk Artylerii Przeciwpancernej (LWP), 4 Brygada Artylerii Przeciwpancernej, 1 Armia Wojska Polskiego.
My question is, are the files for the Volksliste applications for Gorny Slask, especially for Chorzów, still exist somewhere? I know such files from the archives in Bremen, Germany where a lot of Polish people lived before 1939. They are a great genealogical source.
Dziekuje bardzo i pozdrawiam
Viktor
