Request for USC or Catholic church records Lauraütte 1896-1908
19 lutego 2017 o 22:03 #12293
I am in search of civil or Catholic church records for the birth of my grandmother’s siblings and the marriage of her parents in Lauraütte (Siemianowice Sl.).
Eduard Kolassa and Pauline Piontek married 7 June 1899
Gertrude Kolassa born 7 March 1896
Erich kolassa born 10 May 1902
Hilda Kolassa likely born 1903, possibly 1901
Edmund Kolassa born 11 April 1904
Bruno Josef Kolassa born 31 May 1907
Paul Kolassa born about 1908
I would be grateful for any help obtaining these documents. If that is not possible I would appreciate any help about how to locate and obtain these documents.
Thank you for your consideration.

For now, the only possible document that you can get is birth act of Gertrud Kolassa. It is in the national archives in Katowice (you can send them an email request). Unfortunately documents from Siemianowitz/Laurahutte past year 1896 were not yet given to National Archives by the original council. They are saying they will do so in this year so just keep little patient 🙂

Thank you for the quick response regarding my request. I will be patient. How will I know when these records have been transferred from the original council to the National Archives in Katowice?22 lutego 2017 o 18:18 #12343
I followed the suggestion of Alwexis to request the birth record from AP Katowice for my great aunt Gertrud Kolassa. I have attached the very cryptic reply from AP Katowice. I do not know what I should do after receiving this response. Can someone please help me understand this response? Does AP Katowice have the record I am requesting? How do obtain a copy of that record?22 lutego 2017 o 18:41 #12345
Although most of the ancestors of my branch of the Kolassa family seem to originate from the vicinity of Zülz (Biala), my grandmother’s siblings were all born in Laurahütte (Siemianowice Sl.) and her parents were married there. The brief span of records that have been scanned for Laurahütte (Siemianowice Sl.) include the period of time in which my great grandmother, Pauline Piontek, would likely have been born. I looked through those records and found the birth of Johanna Pauline Piątek (see attached image). The name “Piątek” is not clearly visible so I have included a second image of the record of a sibling that clearly shows the “Piątek” spelling. Most of the entries do not seem to use Polish alphabet characters in the spelling so the inclusion of the “ą” character seems a bit unusual. In all the other documents that I have seen that relate to Johanna Pauline her last name is spelled “Piontek”. So, my question is regarding the likelihood that the name “Piontek” is just a German phonetic spelling of “Piątek” or are these truly just different last name.22 lutego 2017 o 18:45 #12347
Here is the second image related to the “piontek” discussion above.22 lutego 2017 o 18:56 #12348
Sorry, here’s one more attempt at the image.23 lutego 2017 o 09:24 #12357AlwexisUżytkownik
As fo the reply form AP Katowice – they definetely have the births from 1896, question is, if your ancestor was born in Siemianowitz or Laurahutte? Those were different registry offices. Howerver just send them mail in which you include exact birth date, name and possible birth location and they will search for the record.
Piątek and Piontek is exactly the same name and persons 🙂28 lutego 2017 o 19:48 #12470
I had some very good news from AP Katowice. They do have the records for my great aunt Gertrude Kolassa. Thanks to all that helped me get this far. The letter from AP Katowice tells me that there is a charge of 2 PLN for the cost to email to me the scans of the document. The same letter provides a lot of bank routing information about where to send the money. Does any of you know what is the best way to transfer those funds to AP Katowice? Normal bank wire transfer or even PayPal cost a lot more than the 2 PLN fee.2 marca 2017 o 19:28 #12603
Please, I need some help on the payment question above.2 marca 2017 o 19:52 #12605
